Gymnastics

Caleb participated in an end of year gymnastics meet.  He did a great job demonstrating some of the skills he has learned this past year during gymnastics class, but I am most proud of him for being brave and participating in the meet even though there were a lot of people watching.

6 months

Ava is 1/2! She’s sitting, smiling, squealing, and completing her daily regimen of ab crunches.  Someday, I’ll capture that on camera.  It happens often enough, I really should have it already!

We love you, Ava!

We’re Rich!

Nothing like a math lesson in counting by twos to remind us of how rich we are in material goods.

Nothing like dumping out the box of baby shoes to remind me how rich I really am.  The blue shoes Caleb wore the first summer he was walking.  Sophia wore them for awhile too.  I remember some of those days like yesterday…in a fuzzy, nostalgic, happy sort of way, of course.  ;)

Butterflies!

I’m sure you can find better documentation and photos of the caterpillar to butterfly transformation pretty much anywhere.  We’ve been watching our caterpillars grow.  Last week they emerged from their cocoons and we released them this past weekend.  They were ready to fly!

You can see one caterpillar beginning to hang and form his chrysalis.

There are plenty of children’s books and resources about caterpillars and butterflies, but here are a few we’ve enjoyed this week.

Egg Shells

Several weeks ago, we read Rechenka’s Eggs for preschool and dyed eggs to go along with the story.  201304 April 409201304 April 402Goofy kids.  One of our kids had difficulty parting with the beautiful egg shells, so this is what we did.  I’m sure it would look better on a plain plate, but this is what we had.  Glue + egg shells = mosaic art.

One last tidbit

One last tidbit, I forgot to post about Sophia’s recent birthday…

After waking up to streamers on her bedroom door and balloons in the kitchen, before we’ve even gotten to the breakfast table, Sophia asks me, “Am I three now, Mommy?”

“Yes.”

“Can I go to the dentist now?”

Too bad her first dentist appointment isn’t until July.

Many Ways

There are many ways to use a “cooter” as Sophia calls her scooter, but first of all, it’s important to make sure the wheels are clean.

Then you should carry it around for awhile, just to get to know each other a bit.

Sophia’s Birthday-Recap

Can you tell she’s excited for chocolate cake? (with strawberry frosting!)

Someone else was excited to help decorate the cake.

Sophia’s birthday included many of her favorites: rice krispies with yogurt, macaroni and cheese, pineapple, dessert, yellow toe nail polish (her favorite color), and visits from both sets of grandparents.
